The School Day
At Read St John's CE Primary School, we provide a structured and engaging school day that supports children’s learning, wellbeing and development.
Start of the Day
The school gates and doors open at 8:50am, allowing children time to enter school, settle into their classrooms and prepare for the day ahead.
Lessons begin promptly at 9:00am, and we encourage all pupils to arrive on time so they are ready to learn from the start of the day.
End of the Day
- Reception Class finishes at 3:20pm
- Years 1–6 finish at 3:30pm
Children should be collected promptly at the end of the school day.
Weekly Hours
The compulsory school week for pupils in Reception to Year 6 is 32.5 hours, in line with government guidance.
We value every minute of learning time and appreciate the support of parents and carers in ensuring children attend regularly and arrive punctually each day.
