Welcome back and a very warm start to the summer term! It’s set to be a busy and exciting few months ahead, with lots of opportunities for learning, enrichment and celebration across the school.

Our Year 6 children have been working incredibly hard in preparation for their SATs. These will take place from Monday 11th May to Thursday 14th May. Please ensure your child is in school every day during this week and arrives on time so they can feel calm, confident and ready to do their best.

Year 6 also have an exciting residential trip to Winmarleigh leaving on 17th May. This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to develop independence, teamwork and confidence, and we know it will be a memorable experience for them all.

Year 1 pupils will be taking part in the Phonics Screening Check during the week beginning Monday 8th June. This is a great opportunity for them to showcase their growing reading skills, and we are very proud of the progress they have made.

For our Year 4 children, the Multiplication Tables Check will take place over a two-week period from Monday 1st June to Friday 12th June. Regular attendance during this time is really important to support them in completing the check successfully.

Alongside all of this hard work, there is plenty for the children to look forward to. Many classes have exciting trips planned this term, and we are looking forward to our much-anticipated Sports Day. We will also be celebrating World Cricket Day next Thursday with a range of fun activities for the children to enjoy. In addition, we have lots of sporting activities coming up across the school, giving children even more opportunities to stay active and get involved.

We are also very excited that our dance troupe will be travelling to Blackpool next Tuesday to compete in the dance finals. We wish them the very best of luck and know they will represent the school brilliantly!

Thank you for your continued support — we are looking forward to a fantastic summer term together!

Mobile Phone Policy

In line with new guidance from the Department for Education (DfE), we have updated our school’s mobile phone policy.

The DfE has introduced guidance stating that schools should have a clear policy in place which prohibits the use of mobile phones throughout the school day, including during lessons, breaktimes and lunchtimes. This is to support a focused learning environment, reduce distractions, and help safeguard pupils’ wellbeing.

Following this guidance, we have reviewed and updated our own policy to ensure it reflects these expectations and supports a safe and positive school environment for all children.

If your child needs to bring a mobile phone to school, it must be handed in to Mrs Wade or Mrs Long at the start of the day. A form will also need to be completed. Copies of this form are available from the school office, or you can request for one to be emailed to you.

The updated mobile phone policy is now available to view on the school website.

Thank you for your continued support.

Parking Reminder

We kindly ask all parents and carers to park considerately when dropping off and collecting children from school.

Please be mindful of our local residents and ensure that you do not block access to driveways or the garages on Fort Street. Keeping these areas clear helps maintain good relationships within our community and ensures everyone can access their homes safely.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.
